Ontario-based songwriter James Gordon has already lived a dozen musical lives, ranging from being the weekly topical songwriter for CBC's "Basic Black" show to being the founder of the seminal Canadiana folk trio, "Tamarack."
James is currently offering three very different shows for his western audiences:
Stephen Harper: The Musical - An audio-visual production that uses humour, political commentary, pathos,18 original songs, spoken word, hundreds of projected images, audience participation and an activist’s passion to show where we are and where we can go as a nation.
Not exactly a tribute show, Stephen Harper: The musical puts the “ire” back in “satire”!
Rhyme Capsules - James will take a class of up to 30 students (K-8) and, in 90 minutes, give them a crash course in songwriting! The outcome? A song about their community, their school, their environment, or important current issues. James can handle up to fo ur classes a day and often spends a whole week at a school, helping them compose over a dozen songs. At the end of the week they perform for their community!
Got no budget for such a venture? Well, we have a plan to not only pay for a few days of Rhyme Capsules, but also to net your school over $4,000 in fundraising revenue! Come and see us for the details of this amazing and original opportunity.
A James Gordon Concert - Counting the albums made with Tamarack, James has churned out 40 of 'em over the past three decades! That's more than enough material for over a dozen full-length concerts -- but you only need to have James over for one to know what a Canadian musical gem he is.
Happily able to entertain an audience ranging from two dozen souls in a livingroom at a house concert to a soft-seat theatre of hundreds, James' dazzles his listeners with songs from the heart, the road, our history, the environment, and his personal experiences -- and wraps it all in the hilarious humour of a bona fide Canadian raconteur.
